Food and Wine Tours

Food is one of the most interesting parts of traveling, both to enjoy the variety of flavors and to understand the way food production defines cultures and landscapes. Meet the producers, visit the markets, cook with the locals, enjoy tapas and pintxos crawls…travel with your taste!

Food is one of the most interesting parts of traveling, both to enjoy the variety of flavors and to understand the way food production defines cultures and landscapes. We also believe that food production and the way we consume is one of the most effective ways to have a positive impact with our travels.

To facilitate your enjoyment and learning through food we take great care in selecting unique foodie experiences for your tours, from delicious picnics prepared by your guides to small hidden restaurants; from local farmer markets to gourmet restaurants. But on top of this general interest in food and wine in all our tours, we can create specific tours or activities with a bigger focus in this theme.

On top of the meal selection for your tours, we can prepare thematic tours focusing on traditional food production, the producers, the culture around the production and the culture of eating, the different landscapes that it creates and the impact in the environment.

Good food should taste good, but it also should create beautiful healthy environments and viable rural communities.

We have worked in rural development and conservation programs around the connection of traditional shepherds, their productions of cheese and meat, and the conservation of endangered species and habitats in Spain ( Picos de Europa and Pyrenees).

As well, we can organize stays and learning experiences in an ecological farming project in the “montado”, the open forest of Southern Portugal.

A world of cheese

With almost 200 varieties and 26 origin denomination varieties, Spain is one of the top destinations for Cheese lovers. For us, cheese is not only a delicious food but one that links some of our favourite things: mountains, shepherds, rural culture and landscape conservation.

We can organize experiences around cheese with different levels of depth in different locations or make a wonderful Cheese tour of Spain!

Asturias and the Picos de Europa is a top area we know well, with its 40 types of cheese, 5 of them with Origin Denomination Certificates. It is also one of the regions where you can still find some of the last traditional shepherds making cheese up in the summer pastures of the high mountains.

Pyrenees, Basque Country, Extremadura, La Mancha, Andalucía…there is no region in Spain where you can´t find excellent cheese.

From the classic names of Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Jerez or Douro, to the less known of Somontano, Priorat, Empordá, Ribeira Sacra, Alentejo…wine landscapes and tastes can be added to any of your travel experiences or become the focus. Combine them as you wish or link them to other travel experiences.
