Walking tours
Hiking is the best way to enjoy a landscape at your own pace, with time to stop, talk and listen. We like as much to facilitate short easy walks to great view points as beautiful full-day walks or demanding hikes of various days. We will always provide our advice depending on the fitness level, the season, the weather conditions and your point of interest. Walking can be combined with all types of accommodation, from top level small hotels full of character to mountain huts to camping under the stars.
For all hikes we will provide either a guide or enough cartographic and navigation support for you to enjoy safely on your own. For us,though, guides are not only to show you the way and keep you safe, they are a key element to interpret what you see and enhance the experience.
Hikes for all levels
From the valley floor to the highest summits.
In order to design the best walking holiday for you we will always ask you what difficulty of hiking you enjoy, and we will measure this by the máximum length you are comfortable with walking in one day and the elevation gain and loss your heart and your knees are happy to go along for. The great thing is that there are options to enjoy most landscapes with different effort levels, and there are easy hikes to stunning high mountain landscapes and demanding flat walks due to the distance. Even summits can be reached at all levels of difficulty, is just a matter of choosing the right option for each person.
Depending on the destination and the above variety of levels you can enjoy gentle day walks through rural paths, dramatic day walks on mountain trails as those of Ordesa or Picos de Europa National Parks or stunning multi-stage hikes walking from inn to inn.
Inn to inn walks can be a mix of easy walking with lots of culture like in the Camino, moderate walks through rural and river paths or demanding traverses from valley to valley through high mountain passes.
If you don´t mind the simplicity of the accommodation and are a keen walker, there are great multi- stage hut to hut itineraries available, such as the circular routes like the Anillo de Picos de Europa, the Posets and Aneto circuits in the Central Pyrenees, the Carros de Foc trail in Aiguestortes National Park, the Camille route between France and Spain and many others, including the full Pyrenees traverse along the GR11. For all these we can provide guides, help you adapt them to your needs and organize the pre and post hike combinations.
We can also organize a few days of trekking in tents supported by mules and camp staff , a unique experience for small groups and families in the Central Pyrenees.
Hikes along varied landscapes
From coasts to mountains, across fields and forests and into villages and towns.
Diversity of landscapes is the main treasure we have in the Iberian peninsula, and there are great hikes all around Spain and Portugal that offer an amazing variety of landscapes and terrains.
Forest walks, high mountain walks, coastal walks, historical paths, shepherd paths, rural paths linking villages, river side walks, pilgrimage routes..the list is endless.
If you want hiking to be the main focus of your holiday we would recommend you the best areas depending on the time of year, your desired level of effort and the number of days you can dedicate to explore. Our supported multi-stage walks provide a deeper experience of a particular landscape or region, as you hike from inn to inn, following rivers or pilgrimage routes.
Self-drive hiking holidays will give you more variety and flexibility and allow you to enjoy the top day hikes of a larger area.
If you are mixing your hikes with cultural days we will suggest a selection of varied hikes to give you a taste of the different landscapes of the region you are visiting.
